A status label without its assumptions is easy to misuse. Each record shows the dates, work type, jurisdiction, rule and warnings that produced the result.
Caution is a feature
When renewal, authorship, publication or restored-rights facts are missing, the site reports uncertainty. It does not turn an incomplete record into permission.
Current scope
The live catalogue contains 6,738 works. 17 are hand-curated and 6,721 are sourced from Wikidata with linked Project Gutenberg catalogue checks. Imported publication dates have not all been independently checked against original print editions. The public export is CC BY 4.0.
